The Preserve at Oak Meadows

Project type

Master Plan, Clubhouse Design, Green Roof

Role

Project Architect/Manager, Designer at Daniel Wohlfeil Design

Location

Addison, IL

Formerly known as Oak Meadows, located in Addison Illinois, a golf course known for its flooding conditions whose 50k square foot clubhouse was a victim of a fire, change was imperative. Visit this link to see the complete construction: https://youtu.be/eJ3tQ6hw53c

This project re-envisioned a brand and a new clubhouse facility that introduces interesting concepts of a forest preserve coexisting within a public golf course. The design of the building is essentially a translation of the 4 ecosystems existing around the site: woodlands, prairie, grasslands, and savanna. It proposes the idea of a campus in lieu of one single building with multiple functions creating many benefits for its users and staff. Natural materials of building reinforce the connection to nature and the outdoors. Programmatic elements include a restaurant, indoor/outdoor bar, outdoor restrooms connected to the building, fireplace, event space, golf shop, offices, commercial kitchen, outdoor verandas overlooking hole #1, #6, #9,#18, and a fabulous indoor/outdoor gallery space!
